MAFFRA TRADERS UNITE TO GROW MAFFRA

Maffra traders have re-united five years after the cessation of the former Chamber of Commerce and will relaunch a tourism and business association.

The Nationals Member for Gippsland Darren Chester arranged a meeting of business and community representatives to initiate the reestablishment of a community development group to encourage more visitors to the town and help grow the local economy.

Mr Chester said he had been approached individually by several Maffra residents and business owners who could see the need to establish a Maffra tourism and business association.

BUY AUSTRALIAN PAPER CHALLENGE EXTENDED TO GOVERNMENT DEPARTMENTS

Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester has extended a challenge to MPs, Senators and government departments using imported paper in their offices to switch to Australian Paper.
 
Mr Chester told Federal Parliament he found it “appalling” that there was a long list of Australian government departments which do not source their office requisites from Australian-made paper.
 
“In weeks to come, I will start naming the departments. There is a long list of Australian government departments that continue to use imported paper,” Mr Chester said.
