GIPPSLAND DELEGATION BLITZES PARLIAMENT HOUSE

An alliance of local government and business representatives from Gippsland met with federal ministers, MPs and senators in a two-day blitz of Parliament House last week.

Infrastructure and Transport Minister and Gippsland MP Darren Chester and Deputy Prime Minister Barnaby Joyce met with the One Gippsland delegation, which included representatives from Regional Development Australia, Gippsland Local Government Network, and the Committee for Gippsland.

SUPPORT LOCAL, SPEND LOCAL

Federal Member for Gippsland DARREN CHESTER is backing the ‘Support Local, Spend Local’ campaign to bolster businesses in Sale and Maffra.

The Sale and Maffra business and tourism associations have banded together to launch the campaign, which encourages the community to support all types of local businesses including tradespeople, service providers and retailers.

$5 MILLION TO STRENGTHEN AGRICULTURAL LEADERSHIP

Federal Member for Gippsland DARREN CHESTER has welcomed an initiative to nurture strong leaders in agriculture.

The $5 million Leadership in Agricultural Industries Fund was announced as an election commitment in 2016 as part of the Coalition's policy for a Stronger Agriculture Sector.

Mr Chester said the fund was created in recognition of the continued importance to the Australian economy of strong leadership in the $51 billion sector.

“There is a wealth of talented people in agriculture in Gippsland,” Mr CHESTER said.

Cann River and Lakes Entrance residents can have their say on how two key election commitments are rolled out as preparations ramp up for delivering a record investment in the region’s roads.

Federal Member for Gippsland DARREN CHESTER is inviting feedback on a proposed new roundabout at the intersection of the Princes and Monaro Highways at Cann River, and on early design concepts for the Lakes Entrance masterplan.
