Surf Life Saving Lakes Entrance volunteers will be able to build new storage facilities with the help of a Federal Government grant.

Local MP Darren Chester said the $8850 from the #lovegippsland Stronger Communities Program would boost the club’s own fundraising efforts.

“The surf life saving club is a critical local service provider and it requires increased storage facilities for the valuable equipment members need for rescues, training and competition,” Mr Chester said.

“It’s not practical for all equipment to be stored at the club house, across the footbridge, and the club will build a new storage shed using this grant along with money raised from other sources.

“Congratulations to the board members and volunteers at Surf Life Saving Lakes Entrance who do an outstanding job to keep locals and visitors as safe as possible.”

The club is one of 19 applicants in Gippsland to receive a share of $150,000 under the fourth round of the #lovegippsland Stronger Communities Program.

A total of nearly 80 clubs, organisations and groups in Gippsland have received a collective total of $600,000 to upgrade community infrastructure since the program began in 2015.
