Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester has commended personnel from RAAF Base East Sale for attending ANZAC Day commemorations across Gippsland yesterday.

Mr Chester caught up with the new head of the Officer’s Training School, Wing Commander Jonathan McMullan, after laying a wreath at the cenotaph in Bairnsdale.

“ANZAC Day is an important day for all Australians to stop and remember the men and women who bravely served our nation. We also pay tribute to those who continue to put their lives on the line for the safety and security of all Australians,” Mr Chester said.

“It’s been more than 100 years since the landings at Gallipoli, but I was pleased to see the wet weather didn’t diminish the strong community support for local ANZAC Day events.

“Personnel from the RAAF Base were in demand across Gippsland as guest speakers at ANZAC Day events and to march in the commemorative parades.”
