APPLICATIONS FOR ANZAC CENTENARY PROJECTS NOW OPEN

Applications are open for the ANZAC Centenary Local Grants Program according to Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester.
Mr Chester said $100,000 is being provided to support projects put forward by local community organisations which commemorate the service and sacrifice of Australian service men and women in World War I.
“Given the significance of the Centenary of ANZAC, there has already been strong interest in the program from local RSLs and historical groups,” Mr Chester said.
“The program will help commemorate and honour the service and sacrifice of our ANZACs in a variety of ways across the whole Gippsland region.”
Mr Chester has established an ANZAC Centenary Community Grants Committee for Gippsland which will assess applications for funding and make recommendations about projects to be submitted to the Department of Veterans’ Affairs for consideration.
“The committee’s role will be to ensure that proposals meet the eligibility and assessment criteria and that they represent community views,” Mr Chester said.
Mr Chester said applications to the ANZAC Centenary Local Grants Program should be received in his office no later than November 30, 2013.
