Artists, arts workers and organisations in Gippsland can now apply for funding from Festivals Australia.
Around $1.2 million is available for arts and cultural projects that encourage community participation and audience engagement in a festival or community celebration in regional and remote areas.
The Nationals Member for Gippsland Darren Chester said cultural events and celebrations were important fixtures on many community calendars.
“This program funds festivals, parades and celebrations in regional and remote areas. I encourage organisations with the capacity to deliver these events to apply for funding,” said Mr Chester.
“This is a terrific opportunity for next year to bring high quality arts experiences to people living in all parts of Gippsland.”
Minister for the Arts Mitch Fifield said the program was an example of the Federal Government’s commitment to supporting a vibrant arts and culture sector in regional areas.
“The Turnbull Government is proud to fund programs such as this to ensure regional and remote audiences have access to high quality artistic experiences where they live,” Minister Fifield said.
“The program gives audiences access to a diverse range of art forms and ensures Australian artists and performers gain wider exposure for their work.”
Applications for this funding round close on Friday, October 20, 2017.
