Community groups across Gippsland can now apply for Federal Government funding to support the work of their tireless volunteers.
The Nationals Member for Gippsland Darren Chester has encouraged local not-for-profit groups to seek a share of $20 million in grants.
Applications are open for Volunteer Grants 2018, which offers grants valued between $1000 and $5000.
“The grants can be put toward the cost of essential items that help make the work of our volunteers easier, safer, and more enjoyable, such as equipment, training, transport and background screening,” Mr Chester said.
“Last year, 41 organisations from across Gippsland received funding support for items including new kitchen, office and first aid equipment, furniture, power tools and transport.
“Volunteers are the lifeblood of our community and by continuing to help each other and work together, we are building a stronger and safer Gippsland.
“I encourage not-for-profit organisations to apply for Volunteer Grants 2018 to make the work of our volunteers easier and to encourage new people to join them.”
Applications close at 2pm September 18, 2018.
