‘THE RIDGE’ RESIDENTS GET STREET MAIL DELIVERY

July 15, 2011

‘The Ridge’ residents in Wurruk will start receiving their mail by street delivery from next week, according to Australia Post.

A recent poll conducted by Australia Post amongst ‘The Ridge’ residents returned with 69 per cent in favour of street mail delivery. In order to change mail delivery services a 50 per cent vote amongst affected households is needed.

Street mail delivery to ‘The Ridge’ will begin on Monday, July 18.

The Nationals Member for Gippsland Darren Chester has welcomed the announcement, highlighting the benefits street mail delivery provides for young families and older residents.

“I have no doubt that this announcement will be welcomed by residents at ‘The Ridge’ who were previously required to collect their mail from the post office,” Mr Chester said.

“The convenience of street mail delivery is particularly important for older residents and families with younger children as they aren’t always able to venture away from home every day.”

All affected households have been notified by Australia Post.
