The Nationals Member for Gippsland was a special guest at Maffra Secondary College recently.

Hosted by school captains Adelle O’Doherty and Michael Airey, Mr Chester was taken for a tour of the school before meeting the student leaders.

Mr Chester took part in a lengthy question and answer session, during which he spoke about drought relief measures, job creation, the timber industry and the environment.

“I really enjoy opportunities like this one to learn more about how young people are thinking and how they see current events,” Mr Chester said.

“In my experience, students in regional areas are highly engaged in their communities and acutely aware of the issues that affect their families.

“It’s important to me to stay in touch with how our young people are thinking to ensure I am tackling the issues that are important to them as I continue to work for them, their families and their communities.”
