An additional two courts are planned for Bairnsdale’s World Netball Centre to provide more timeslots and more opportunities for local netballers.
Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester said the additional two courts would also help to grow the annual Bairnsdale Netball Association tournament, which brings hundreds of people into the region.
“Full credit to the volunteers at Bairnsdale Netball Association, who are working hard to upgrade club facilities and provide more sporting opportunities for the local community,” Mr Chester said.
“The BNA committee is has been working with East Gippsland Shire Council to finalise designs and costings to redevelop the existing courts and add two additional courts and to upgrade the change rooms, which are in desperate need of an overhaul.
“The club is fortunate to have the services of such a dedicated committee, encouraging healthy active lifestyles with its weekly competition and providing young netballers the opportunity to challenge themselves at a higher level through the representative program.
“I’ve told the committee I’ll support any application for funding they lodge to the State or Federal Government.”
