A campaign to bring more visitors to Gippsland and generate pride in the region will coincide with the coming winter school holiday break.
Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester is calling on Gippslanders to share their favorite Gippsland destinations and activities on social media using the hashtag #lovegippsland.
Mr Chester said promoting all that’s great about Gippsland would help bring more tourists into the region.
“I’ve made a video promoting some of the things I love about Gippsland and I’ll be sharing that on Facebook in the weeks leading up to the school holidays,” Mr Chester said.
“But this is a concept that needs widespread community support to reach family and friends from outside our region and to encourage locals to get out and about and explore their own backyards.
“There is much to be thankful for in Gippsland and as a community we need to work together to get the message out there.”
Mr Chester listed the beaches, Gippsland Lakes and mountain trails as some of his favorite holiday destinations. He said he enjoyed camping and fishing, and visiting country pubs.
“Join the campaign and share what you love about Gippsland,” Mr Chester said.
“Take a video, share it with your friends and let’s get more people to get out and explore our great region. Don’t forget to add the hashtag #lovegippsland.
“Remember, when you take a break in Gippsland, you are helping to create local jobs.”
