The new Bullock Island bridge and associated works are starting to take shape, according to local MP Darren Chester (pictured).
Mr Chester said the project would provide a critical link between the island’s commercial fishing, education precinct, Gippsland Ports, tourism activities and the Princes Highway.
“I secured $5 million from the previous Federal Government for these works which include new pedestrian access to link the Lakes Entrance esplanade with the island’s redeveloped facilities such as the on-water café,” Mr Chester said.
“The work is due to be completed in December and I know it will make a huge difference to locals and also all the visitors the warmer months bring.”
