LOCAL BISHOP MEETS WITH PARLIAMENTARIANS
June 23, 2011
The Nationals Member for Gippsland Darren Chester hosted a visit by the Catholic Bishop of Sale Christopher Prowse in Federal Parliament this week.
Bishop Prowse was in Canberra to meet with Federal MPs and discuss a range of issues.
“It was an opportunity to discuss topics of interest to the Catholic community in Gippsland, including Federal Government support for education and some of the more contentious social issues,” Mr Chester said.
“I complimented the Bishop on the work done by the Catholic education sector in securing value for money with the school halls program and I look forward to continuing to work with him in the future.”
The Diocese of Sale stretches from the outer suburbs of Melbourne to the New South Wales border and is divided into 26 parishes.
