The Federal Government’s mobile Centrelink office will be in Gippsland next week.

The mobile service is a purpose-built office on wheels and will be able to deliver Centrelink, Medicare and Child Support services to regional areas like Gippsland.

The Mobile Service Centre will visit:

• Loch Sport on Tuesday 14 November, from 9.30am to 3pm, located near The Lodge, Lake Street.
• Cann River on Wednesday 15 November, from 9.30am to 4pm, located opposite the Cann River Bakery, Princess Highway.
• Mallacoota on Thursday 16 November, from 9am to 3pm, located at Mallacoota Health Centre, Genoa Road.

Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester said the fully customised truck provided the same service as a permanent Centrelink office – it’s just on wheels.

The truck is operated by specialist staff from the Department of Human Services who can help with a range of services, including Centrelink claims, Medicare registrations, online services and offering free hearing checks.

“The Mobile Service Centre also has wi-fi facilities, so people can bring along their own devices to get help with government apps,” Mr Chester said.

Included on board is a government social worker who can assist with short-term counselling and referrals to support services.

“This is a great opportunity to come down and meet face-to-face with the specialist staff,” Mr Chester said.

“You don’t need an appointment, and it’s a free service.”
