Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester and Deputy Prime Minister Michael McCormack toured Patties Foods facility in Bairnsdale to showcase some of Gippsland’s manufacturing industry.

Mr Chester and Mr McCormack visited to view the facility and hear about the workforce and decentralisation.

“Patties Foods has been a part of Gippsland for over 50 years and one of the greatest family business success stories in the region,” Mr Chester said.

“It supports many jobs in our region and is the biggest manufacturer of baked savoury pies in the world.

“It was a fantastic opportunity to showcase to the Deputy Prime Minister one of the many local businesses and how important it is to the region in terms of jobs and the economy.

“Gippsland businesses and manufacturers supply not only the region but the country with so much produce and it is important to acknowledge such a wonderful asset in our region.”

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development Michael McCormack said Patties Foods highlights how the Gippsland region contributes on an international scale.

“Patties Foods not only supports local jobs and in turn local families in Bairnsdale, it exports some of Australia’s most iconic foods right across the globe,” the Deputy Prime Minister said.

“This is another fantastic example of our regions contributing to the national economy as they continue to punch well above their weight, securing Australia’s future following the COVID-19 pandemic.”
