Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester attended the launch of the Youth Insearch End Suicide campaign this week at Parliament House.

Mr Chester said Youth Insearch was the only Australian organisation dedicated to helping young people face trauma through peer group support, where young people help one another.

“Youth Insearch’s purpose is to empower young people to take control of their lives by giving them the opportunity and skills to develop their self-esteem and play a positive role in society,” Mr Chester said.

“Youth suicide is the biggest killer of young Australians aged between 15-24 years.

“Too many young Australians are taking their own lives every year and it’s good to see organisations such as End Youth Suicide address this important issue.

“End Youth Suicide encourages young people to defy the stigma and openly talk about their mental health with their friends, families, and communities.

“Support is available through Lifeline 13 11 14, Kids Help Line 1800 551 800 or the Suicide Call Back Service 1300 659 467.”
