Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester (pictured) is backing community efforts to build a safe pedestrian crossing at McNairn Road in Traralgon.
Mr Chester is working with Latrobe City Council to secure Federal Government support for the much-needed safety improvements.
“The lack of safe access makes the railway crossing a danger to the public and I’m backing Council’s plans to construct a pedestrian overpass as soon as possible.
“The State Government should have made this a priority as part of the Gippsland rail line upgrades. It hasn’t happened and I’ve asked the Federal Minister to agree to get the work done as soon as possible.”
