Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester was across the line first at Lakes Entrance parkrun on Saturday, and says it should never happen again.

“The volunteers do a great job every Saturday to put on a free, 5km timed event on the foreshore and the numbers have dropped back a little in recent weeks,” he said.

“It’s a fun event for runners and walkers of all ages. While it was exciting to finish first on the weekend, surely there should be a heap of younger and fitter runners ahead of me next time!”

The Lakes Entrance parkrun is every Saturday from 8am at the rotunda on the esplanade.
