CHESTER DONATES TO TRARALGON BLOOD DRIVE

June 21, 2013

The Traralgon Blood Donor Centre’s campaign for new and more regular donors has seen The Nationals Member for Gippsland Darren Chester join the cause.

Mr Chester has made a donation and committed to returning in the future.

He said donating blood was one of the easiest ways to help save lives.

One in three Australians will need blood in their lifetime yet only one in 30 currently donates, with demand for blood and blood products expected to double over the next 10 years.

“Donating a single unit of blood can help save up to three lives,” Mr Chester said.

“We are fortunate to have many regular donors in our community who have been supporting the blood bank for years but more volunteers are always needed.

“It takes less than an hour, is virtually pain-free and you get well looked after by blood centre staff.

“The Traralgon Blood Donor Centre welcomes new donors with open arms and I encourage more local residents to take some time out of their busy schedules to donate.”

The Traralgon Blood Donor Centre is located at 20 Seymour Street and is open:

Monday                12:00pm – 7:00pm
Tuesday                1:00pm – 7:00pm
Wednesday           12:00pm – 7:00pm
Thursday               8:30am – 4:00pm
Friday                   8:30am – 4:00pm
