Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester is supporting a $3 million bid for funding to replace the Bullock Island bridge at Lakes Entrance. The East Gippsland Shire Council is planning to replace the bridge which provides a critical link between the Lakes Entrance Fishermen’s Co-op and the Princes Highway.
Mr Chester said the project was a vital first stage in redeveloping the island for recreational users and locals to enjoy.
“The Bullock Island master plan needs major funding to be fully implemented and this bridge project to maintain road access is an important part of the plan. I’m lobbying my Federal colleagues to support Council’s bid for funding,” Mr Chester said.
