Work to upgrade Downies Bridge in Traralgon South is well underway.

Local MP Darren Chester said the replacement of the timber bridge was funded through the Federal Government’s Bridges Renewal Program.

“The timber bridge was no longer fit for purpose and needed to be replaced to ensure the track remained useable for local residents and farmers,” Mr Chester said.

“After facing delays due to inclement weather the new concrete bridge structure has been installed and surrounding civil works are approaching completion.”
