EASTER MESSAGE FROM DARREN CHESTER

April 4, 2011

Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester is urging local motorists to take care on Gippsland roads during the Easter long weekend.

Mr Chester, who is also the Shadow Parliamentary Secretary for Roads and Regional Transport, said the Easter break was a notorious time for road trauma.

“The Victorian road toll is already higher than it was for the same period last year and the Easter period is infamous for accidents on country roads,” Mr Chester said.

“I urge everyone to take responsibility for their own safety and recognise that it might take a bit more time than usual to reach your favourite holiday destination in Gippsland.

“Why not support the volunteers who will be providing ‘take a break’ services across our region and arrive at your destination safely.

“I would like to take the opportunity to wish Gippslanders a safe and happy Easter in the company of family and friends.”
