Amateur photographers from across Gippsland are invited to share what they love about their region, in Federal MP Darren Chester’s #lovegippsland Calendar Competition.

This year’s theme is “My Gippsland”, where entrants will be invited to submit photos that they believe represent the region.

The 13 best entries are included in Mr Chester’s annual calendar, with more than 20,000 copies to be distributed free of charge across the electorate.

There will be two major accommodation prizes for the open and junior categories, donated by Captains Cove Resort Paynesville, and Beachcomber Caravan Park in Mallacoota.

Mr Chester said it was the fifth year the photo competition had been run and last year’s calendar attracted more than 200 entries.

“The annual photo competition encourages photographers of all abilities to share photos of the most beautiful parts of Gippsland,” Mr Chester said.

“This year’s theme reflects the fact we all have different reasons why we love Gippsland. We are seeking a wide variety of photos and strongly encourage people to be creative with their choice of locations.

“For me personally, having a ‘favourite’ part of Gippsland is like a parent naming a favourite child: it can’t be done. But our region is blessed with natural and man-made attractions and there are ample sources of inspiration for entrants.”

Mr Chester urged Gippslanders to use the school holiday break to explore Gippsland and send in a photo.

The competition is open to budding Gippsland photographers of all ages, with accommodation prizes again on offer for the open and junior entry categories.

Entrants are also encouraged to upload their photos on to social media using the hashtag #lovegippsland.

All entries will be uploaded to Mr Chester’s website, www.darrenchester.com

To enter, email your photo to lovegippsland@gmail.com, with a minimum resolution of 2MB. Include your name, age, town, email address and a photo caption including the name of the river.  Entries close Wednesday October 26 at 5pm and are limited to two entries per person.

CAPTION: Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester regularly shares photos of his favourite parts of the region on social media. The MP is encouraging entries in his fifth annual calendar competition.
