Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester was pleased to see some local faces in the halls of Parliament House last week. Mr Chester is pictured with Traralgon College students Alexandra Hood and Shannon Overton, who visited Canberra as part of Year 8 camp, on their way through to Sydney.  Mr Chester was impressed by the group’s interest in key issues affecting the Latrobe Valley like jobs in the power and timber industries, and said it was plain to see the young Gippslanders share his passion for our region.  The Traralgon College camp has been designed to give students an experience that complements all areas of their curriculum, with a focus on government, culture and economics. Students spent a night in Canberra, visiting the Australian War Memorial and Parliament House, before heading to Sydney to Paddy’s market in China Town, the Sydney Opera House, and the Power House Museum.
