Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester has paid tribute to former Prime Minister Malcolm Fraser, who died today aged 84.
Mr Chester recognised Mr Fraser’s outstanding service to the Australian community.
“Malcolm Fraser was a towering figure in Australian politics and served his country admirably as a Minister between 1966 and 1972 and as Prime Minister between 1975 and 1983,” Mr Chester said.
“As the Member for Wannon in Western Victoria for 27 years, Mr Fraser was also a strong advocate for regional issues and enjoyed a close working relationship with his National Party colleagues, particularly his good friend, and former Member for Gippsland, Peter Nixon.”
