Feedback is being sought from the Rosedale community about concept plans for Willow Park and the western entrance to town, as part of the $1.5 million Rosedale Revitalisation project.

The Nationals Member for Gippsland Darren Chester announced $1 million earlier this year to revitalise the Rosedale township and boost the local economy, which will include upgrading Willow Park Campground and streetscape improvements.

Wellington Shire Council will jointly fund and manage the project and has draft concept plans available for community feedback. The concept plans will be on display at a drop-in session at Rosedale Neighbourhood House on August 16, 2017, from 4pm to 6pm; at council’s Customer Service Centre in Sale; online at www.wellington.vic.gov.au/rosedalerevitalisation or by contacting Council’s Open Space Planner on 1300 366 244.

Mr Chester encouraged community members to view the draft plans and provide feedback to the council.

“Local businesses rely on passing traffic, so it’s important we give travellers even more reason to stop and spend in Rosedale,” Mr Chester said.

“The Willow Park Campground is popular with visitors, but there is currently no infrastructure to support visitors, which reduces their length of stay.

“These upgrades will help Rosedale to create a reputation as an “RV-friendly town” and encourage more people to stop off on their way to destinations further east.”

Among the plans proposed by Wellington Shire Council for Willow Park:

• the construction of a public toilet facility, a new picnic shelter and associated infrastructure
• the creation of an open space area around the picnic shelter
• revegetation of areas along the Latrobe River and on embankments to improve biodiversity, amenity and reduce erosion
• significant tree planting of indigenous species to improve amenity
• resheeting of the shared pathway up to Mill Lane
• installation of wayfinding signs at Willow Park and Mill Lane to direct path users to and from the Rosedale town centre.

Submissions can be made by emailing liamc@wellington.vic.gov.au or writing to Open Space Planner, Rosedale Revitalisation – Willow Park and Western Entrance, Wellington Shire Council, PO Box 506, Sale, VIC 3850. Closing date for submissions is 5pm on Friday September 15, 2017.

In addition to the $1.5 million Rosedale Revitalisation project, the Federal Government has allocated a further $1 million to upgrade the Princes Highway roundabout in Rosedale under the Heavy Vehicle Safety and Productivity Program, bringing the Federal Government’s total contribution for the projects in Rosedale to $2 million.
