Final designs have been released showcasing the major train station upgrades at Traralgon and Morwell Stations.
Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester, who secured $504 million for the Gippsland Line Upgrade said the new stations would be more accessible and user friendly.
“The Traralgon Station will have a new accessible pedestrian overpass and the underpass at Morwell will be upgraded as well,” Mr Chester said.
“Both stations will also have new second platforms and a crossing loop extension at Morwell to allow trains to pass each other.
“Community consultation was undertaken to ensure the user experience was at the forefront of design and catered to the needs of our local communities.
“The Gippsland Line Upgrade will ensure local public transport is accessible and reliable for locals and those making the commute to Melbourne regularly.
“Gippsland is a great place to live and raise a family and our public transport must meet the needs to the community and provide a convenient and easy connection between metropolitan and regional communities.”
Major construction at both stations is expected to reach completion in late 2022.
The Gippsland Line Upgrade is jointly funded by the Federal Government and the Victorian State Government.
