Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester has delivered on his promise of donating $2 for each person who finished ahead of him in yesterday’s DFP Recruitment Latrobe City Community Fun Run and Walk.
Mr Chester, pictured with Phil Mayer from Traralgon Harriers, finished 141st overall in a time of 28 minutes and 39 seconds and made a personal donation of $300.
“It was great to see more than 400 runners out early raising money for Gippsland Rotary Centenary House,” Mr Chester said.
“Gippsland Rotary Centenary House is a vital facility for the region, providing a home-away-from-home for people from across our region undergoing treatment at Latrobe Regional Hospital.
“The fun run was a great example of our community working together to support a great cause.
“Well done to Traralgon Harriers and all volunteers and sponsors who made the event possible.”
All proceeds from the fun run and walk will also be donated to Gippsland Rotary Centenary House.
