Funding through the latest round of the #lovegippsland Stronger Communities Program will deliver a fully monitored, publicly accessible defibrillator package for the Traralgon West Cricket Club community.
Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester said the club had received $6490 for the installation of a defibrillator package that will be publicly accessible to improve community safety.
“Many sports facilities in our communities lack publicly accessible defibrillators that are fully monitored and available around the clock,” Mr Chester said.
“While some clubs have defibrillators, these are often stored in locked areas and are only accessible during limited hours.
“A fully monitored defibrillator package, accessible to the public 24 hours a day, seven days a week, provides several benefits, including increased accessibility, enhanced reliability, and improved response times for cardiac events.”
Mr Chester said the Stronger Communities Program is a fantastic initiative from the former Coalition Government that supported local groups in increasing participation and contributing to vibrant and viable communities.
“Gippsland was allocated $150,000 as part of Round Nine of the Stronger Communities Program, to provide grants of between $2,500 and $20,000 for infrastructure projects that will deliver social benefits for local communities,” Mr Chester said.
“By providing targeted funding, it helps grassroots organisations to upgrade infrastructure, enhance participation, and ultimately strengthen the social fabric of our region.”
