A major upgrade of community facilities in Genoa is set to benefit locals and visitors, according to Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester.

Mr Chester said the construction of a new pedestrian access bridge and upgrades to the tennis court and playground would help the town recover from last summer’s bushfires.

“The bushfire recovery is a partnership between all levels of government and its great to see progress on the bridge which was destroyed last year,” Mr Chester.

“Recent heavy rain has delayed some of the works but the local contractors are getting stuck into the project when conditions in the river are favourable.”
