TAFE Gippsland Timber Training Unit manager, Kevin Nunn has been awarded the Australian VET Teacher/Trainer of the Year.
Local MP Darren Chester congratulated Mr Nunn and said it was a testament to his teaching efforts and community contribution.
“Earlier this month Kevin was also awarded the Victorian Teacher/Trainer of the year, not only do these awards recognise extraordinary contributions he has made to TAFE Gippsland, but also to the Gippsland community,” Mr Chester said.
“He was also a hardworking community recovery leader following the East Gippsland bushfires.
“His work has kept people safe and really made a difference to the lives of locals during a very difficult and emotional time.”
Mr Chester said the Teacher/Trainer of the Year Award recognises innovation and excellence by a teacher or trainer providing national recognised training to students in the TAFE and training sectors.
“Our local students are very lucky to have such a dedicated and passionate teacher and I am sure they come away with not only practical skills but also ones that can be used throughout their lives,” Mr Chester said.
“Congratulations again to Kevin, he truly is a legendary Gippslander.”
