GIPPSLANDERS TO BENEFIT FROM TAX CUTS

Mar 31, 2021 | Latest News, Putting Locals First

Gippslanders will continue to benefit over the coming months from tax cuts as part of the 2020-21 Federal Budget.

Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester said over 50,000 Gippslanders would benefit from tax relief this financial year.

“Low and middle-income earners in Gippsland will have up to $2,745 in their pocket thanks to tax relief this financial year,” Mr Chester said.

“Many families have been impacted by recent events of drought, bushfires or the coronavirus pandemic and as we recover as a nation it is important that the government gives back.

“This is why taxpayers have a tax cut backdated to July 1 2020 and the low and middle-income tax offset will be retained for an additional year.”

Mr Chester said Gippslanders deserved to be rewarded after coming together as a community throughout the pandemic.

“Gippslanders are a resilient bunch and we banded together to get through the many challenges we have faced in the last 12 months,” Mr Chester said.

“This additional boost is a great way to support local businesses and local jobs by spending in the region.”
