The Nationals Member for Gippsland Darren Chester recently visited Hardchrome Engineering’s workshop in Yallourn, which is one of Australia’s largest engineering workshops spanning over 20,000 square metres.

Hardchrome Engineering Service facilities were established just after the Second World War initially by the former State Electricity Commission of Victoria, to service Victoria’s Power and Mining interests.

The site was purchased by Hardchrome in 2015 and remains a key manufacturer for products to service, rail, power, oil and gas industries.

Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester and Mr Dugan discussed the ability for Hard Chrome to service Abram battle tanks here in the Latrobe Valley.

“Our local economy relies on people like Andrew and his businesses prepared to grow their business and help create more opportunities for young people in our community,” Mr Chester said.

“The Latrobe Valley has faced some challenging times, but I am confident we have a prosperous future ahead,” Mr Chester said.
