Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester met with the fantastic team members at the Paynesville Neighbourhood Centre, who are doing a phenomenal job overseeing the Community Lunch Program and Paynesville Foodbank.
In the past year, Paynesville Neighbourhood Centre has served more than 1,300 customers through its Foodbank service and more than 1,000 free meals through its Community Lunch Program. The lunch is a great way to reduce loneliness in the community and bring people together in a safe and friendly environment to share a home-cooked meal.
Sadly, the increased cost of living is forcing more people to rely on community services like this, which places an extra burden on volunteers.
