Works to build a better highway through Bairnsdale are well advanced and are scheduled for completion by the middle of the year, according to Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester (pictured).
“It’s been a long time coming, but the upgrade works on the McEacharn Street roundabout at Bairnsdale are well underway, with the upgrade slated to be finished in a few months’ time,” Mr Chester said.
“The entire $9.7 million project was funded by the previous Coalition Government as part of our Princes Highway corridor package, and while it’s taken way too long for the State Government to get the job started, progress is being made towards constructing a better, safer highway.
“It’s quite a big job, and obviously, traffic disruptions are annoying, but the long-term benefits of a safer stretch of road will be good for locals and visitors to East Gippsland.
“Please slow down and take care. Our road construction workers are doing a great job to keep the traffic flowing as they build a better highway!”
