The installation of a Telstra small cell will improve mobile phone reception at Cabbage Tree Creek.
Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester said the installation of the base station was part of the Federal Government’s commitment to improve connectivity through its Regional Connectivity Program (RCP).
“This upgrade will provide improved coverage and benefit emergency communications and support local students,” Mr Chester said.
“The installation of the small cell will provide year-round coverage in Cabbage Tree Creek.
“Improved connectivity, whether it be mobile phone or internet coverage, is essential throughout our region for communication and economic growth.
“Phone coverage, especially in rural areas, is vital for day-to-day communication, during emergencies and when travelling.
“It is important we continue to identify black spots and improve connectivity throughout Gippsland for both locals and visitors.”
The new small cell will provide access to Telstra 4G mobile coverage.
Cabbage Tree Creek is one of four Gippsland projects that will share in more than $90 million in funding under the Regional Connectivity Program (RCP).
