The Nationals Member for Gippsland Darren Chester says he is working with all levels of government and the community to see new investment in tourism infrastructure and help the Lakes Entrance economy to grow.

Mr Chester said he was working with his Parliamentary colleagues and East Gippsland Shire Council seeking funding for new projects in Lakes Entrance, to help spur an economic boost.

“As part of the Federal Government’s $25 million funding to upgrade the Princes Highway, Lakes Entrance is receiving a $5 million facelift to improve road safety along The Esplanade,” Mr Chester said.

“But there are other infrastructure projects that could help restore business confidence and make the visitor experience more enjoyable.

“I’m supporting plans to redevelop Bullock Island, and build a coastal pedestrian circuit that loops around Cunninghame Arm linking Eastern beach to Main Beach.

“I’m also supporting a proposal to develop Jemmy’s Point into an iconic tourist destination that showcases the most incredible view of the Gippsland Lakes.

“We must continue to work together as a community to identify key projects that can help the region grow and to unite behind those projects to jointly lobby governments.”
