Upgrades to key facilities for locals and visitors at Kalimna will be officially opened on September 4 at an event organised by East Gippsland Shire Council.
Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester (pictured) secured the majority of the funding for the projects from the former government and expects the improvements to be popular over the summer months.
“The Kalimna circuit is one of the region’s most popular walking trails because it takes people along the shores of the Gippsland Lakes and also provides stunning views from the top of the hill once you pass through the temperate rainforest,” Mr Chester said.
“Providing safer opportunities for locals and visitors to get outdoors and exercise on paths, tracks, and trails is one of my highest priorities because it’s good for our health and good for the economy.
“The walking trail is part of a larger project that received $2.25 million from the previous Federal Government for the Hotel Rd lookout, Rotary Park redevelopment and linking pathways program, managed by East Gippsland Shire Council.”
