Thirteen grade six students at Stratford Primary School received their leadership certificates at a special ceremony held at the school recently.

Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester made the presentations to students, including the school captains, Kaitlin Brooks and Rylie Kelsey (seated centre).

Mr Chester spoke to the students about the importance of being proud of who they are and where they come from.

“There is so much to take pride in as a Gippslander,” Mr Chester told the students.

“You can come from anywhere and become anything you want.

“I have school friends who have established successful businesses locally. Others are leading large companies in Melbourne. As a student at Guthridge Primary in Sale, I never imagined I would be doing what I am doing now.

“Be proud of where you come from and follow your heart.”
