Gippslanders are being invited by Federal MP Darren Chester to enter his 2016 #lovegippsland calender competition.

The Federal Member for Gippsland today launched his fourth annual photo competition to capture what we love about Gippsland.

This year’s theme is “A river runs through it”, as a celebration of Gippsland’s river systems. Residents are invited to submit photos featuring their favourite river, stream, lake, wetland or catchment area.

Mr Chester’s calendar will feature the 13 best entries and more than 15,000 copies will be distributed free of charge across the electorate.

Entrants are also encouraged to upload their photos on to social media using the hashtag #lovegippsland.

In launching the competition, Mr Chester urged Gippslanders to use the school holiday break to explore Gippsland and send in a photo.

“With the weather warming up and school holidays starting, now is the best time to take a break in our own region and explore Gippsland’s natural wonders. Every time we holiday or go on a day-trip in Gippsland, we help to create jobs for local people,” Mr Chester said.

“Gippsland is famous for its rivers and there are calendar-quality photos waiting to be taken in all corners of the region.

“The #lovegippsland calendar competition is an opportunity to show everything there is to be proud about our region and I am looking forward to seeing a large number of entries again.”

The competition is open to budding Gippsland photographers of all ages, with accommodation prizes again on offer for the open and junior entry categories.

To enter, email your photo to lovegippsland@gmail.com, with a minimum resolution of 2MB. Include your name, age, town, email address and a photo caption including the name of the river.  Entries close 5pm, October 30, 2015 and are limited to two entries per person.
