A new two-lane concrete bridge across the Buchan River is due for completion before the end of winter.
The Nationals Member for Gippsland Darren Chester announced $1.6 million from the Federal Government to build the bridge, which is jointly funded with East Gippsland Shire Council.
Mr Chester is pictured with Kevin Whelan, director at Tambo Constructions from Swan Reach, the company undertaking the construction of the bridge on the Buchan-Orbost Road.
Pre-stressed concrete beams are currently being put in place in readiness for the concrete deck to be poured. The deck will be poured in sections over four to five weeks.
The Buchan River bridge is the second bridge in East Gippsland to be replaced under the Bridges Renewal Program. The Lindenow-Glenaladale Road bridge at Woodglen has also received funding from the Federal Government.
