MAKING THE CASE FOR STRETTON PARK IN CANBERRA

Apr 7, 2025 | Latest News, News

Maffra aged care facility Stretton Park is searching to further bolster care capacity and capabilities through the next stage of the major multi-million dollar redevelopment project, according to Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester.

“Stretton Park is a community-run, not-for-profit residential aged care facility that has provided services to the Maffra district for 45 years.

“The local aged care provider has been undertaking major redevelopment works at its Kent Street site over the years, and the committee has done an incredible job modernising facilities for older residents to date.

“We were able to secure some grant funding from the previous Coalition Government to help with the redevelopment project, but Stretton Park still needs funding support to help the committee undertake the next stage of works to modernise additional rooms with a focus on bathroom facilities and meeting modern safety standards.”

Mr Chester met with committee members who highlighted the need to upgrade 11 existing rooms to meet modern standards.

“I raised Stretton Park’s plans for the next stage of the redevelopment with senior Coalition colleagues in parliament during the last sitting week to make the case for funding,” Mr Chester said.

“Growing capacities at local facilities means that when it is time for someone to go into aged care, they can stay in a familiar environment.

“Gippsland is a great place to live, and an investment of this nature is a commitment to the future health and wellbeing of our ageing population.”
