The latest round of National Men’s Shed Development Programme (NDSP) is now open.
Local MP Darren Chester encouraged local men’s sheds to apply for funding to improve their facilities for members.
“Men’s sheds provide a welcoming environment for men to gather, socialise and keep active,” Mr Chester said.
“Men’s sheds make a valuable contribution to the community and there’s a strong sense of camaraderie and mateship among the men who give their time to do something for others.
“The pandemic meant men’s sheds were closed and these grants will help to support the running the shed and keep members connected even when they cannot visit.”
Men’s sheds can apply for funding under three different categories including:
- Health, wellbeing and events –$8,000 maximum
- Shed improvements – $8,000 maximum
- Equipment – $5,000 maximum
Mr Chester said the grants would support men’s sheds in providing much needed social support and engagement for the members.
“Ensuring men’s sheds are equipped with the necessary equipment and technology means that if they cannot operate the members can remain in touch,” Mr Chester said.
“I encourage local men’s sheds to apply for funding and improve facilities and resources for their members.”
Applications close July 26, 2021. For further information visit: https://mensshed.org/development-grants
