Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester might have to dig a little deeper into his own pocket after a team of local footballers signed up for this weekend’s Metung Fun Run.

Mr Chester has offered to make a $2 donation to Metung Primary School for every runner who beats him across the line on the 10km course.

“I’m a bit worried that a bunch of fit young footballers has been signed up to take me on, by one of the organisers Adrian Bromage,” Mr Chester said.

“When it comes to the hare and tortoise, I’m definitely the tortoise!

“With an extra incentive for runners to beat me across the finish line it will be a lot of fun on the day and the school will benefit from all of the entry fees.

“I’m happy to take on all runners and hope that there is a great turn out on the day.”
