Local construction company ACE Earthmoving is now undertaking works at the Traralgon end of the Traralgon-Morwell shared pathway.

The Nationals Member for Gippsland Darren Chester said construction of the pathway at the top end of Kay Street was progressing well.

“The section from Morwell Railway Station to McDonald Street and stage 1c from Kernot Hall to Waterhole Creek are both complete,” Mr Chester said.

Mr Chester has announced $1.6 million from the Federal Government toward the 10km cycling and pedestrian pathway.

He said the pathway would link two of the Latrobe Valley’s major towns to improve connectivity and liveability.

“Local residents have long advocated for increased bike path networks across our region and it is great to finally see this project finally coming to fruition,” Mr Chester said.

“The pathway will improve health benefits for local residents by providing a safe pathway for recreational cyclists.”

The Traralgon-Morwell shared pathway is being jointly funded by the Federal Government ($1.6 million) and Victorian Government ($2.95 million).  Latrobe City Council is delivering the project.
