The Nationals Member for Gippsland Darren Chester today welcomed a commitment by his State Parliamentary colleagues to build a new TAFE campus in Sale.
Shadow Minister for Training, Skills and Apprenticeships Steph Ryan, The Nationals Member for Gippsland South Danny O’Brien and Member for Eastern Victoria Region
Melina Bath have announced a Liberals and Nationals Government, if elected in 2018, would relocate Federation Training’s Fulham campus.
Mr Chester said he strongly supported the plan to move the campus to a new site at the old netball courts.
“This is a wonderful opportunity to construct a purpose-built facility with modern facilities for our young people,” Mr Chester said.
”I hope the move to a new campus will be the catalyst for boosting student numbers and the range of courses on offer so more students can stay close to home while undertaking further study.”
“This project makes a lot of sense as it will improve accessibility for students, who struggle to get out to Fulham to attend classes, and help the TAFE to cut its spending on maintaining its aging infrastructure.
“Moving the TAFE into Sale will also raise the TAFE’s profile in the community, enliven the southern end of Sale and provide a welcome boost for our local traders.”
