The official declaration of the polls in the Division of Gippsland was the final formality for the Australian Electoral Commission after concluding the vote count.
Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester extended heartfelt thanks and congratulations to the AEC staff for their professionalism and integrity in conducting a ballot across Australia, where voters remained confident in the fairness of the outcome.
“Our democracy is precious, and we should never take it for granted,” Mr Chester said.
“I’m humbled to receive the highest primary vote in Victoria, and my staff and I are already back to work on local issues and helping people with Federal Government matters.
“Thank you to Gippslanders for trusting me to continue representing our wonderful community.”
