Work is progressing well on a long-awaited safety upgrade to a Traralgon railway crossing, according to local MP Darren Chester.
Mr Chester secured $900,000 from the previous Federal Government for Latrobe City Council to undertake the McNairn Road project through the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure program.
“The crossing is currently not safe for pedestrians and is putting lives at risk and it’s good to see work has started,” Mr Chester said.
“The community has been seeking this upgrade for several years and a proper pedestrian crossing will mean locals won’t have to make risky decisions around oncoming traffic and trains.”
Latrobe City Council is administering the project which is expected to be completed by the end of May.
