Funding is now available for community groups in Gippsland to improve energy efficiency and lower power bills.

Local MP Darren Chester has called for Expressions of Interest (EOIs) for the Federal Government’s Powering Communities Program.

“Energy bills are often one of the biggest overheads for local community groups,” Mr Chester said.

“These grants will assist groups with projects like installing solar panels or a battery, upgrading air conditioners, hot water systems or refrigeration with more efficient models, replacing lighting with LEDs or conducting an energy audit.

“Improving energy efficiency will help to lower energy bills and means community groups can focus on supporting the community.”

Mr Chester said grants of between $5,000 and $12,000 were available to groups in Gippsland.

“With up to 12 projects to be funded in Gippsland, I encourage community organisations to submit an EOI,” Mr Chester said.

The Powering Communities Program will help community groups across Gippsland get control of their energy use, while helping to play a part in reducing global emissions and ensure a healthy environment for future generations.

Interested organisations must submit an EOI to be considered for a grant.

Organisations can submit an EOI form via Darren Chester’s website, which can be found here: https://darrenchester.com.au/eoi-2021-powering-communities-program-now-open/

Completed forms must be submitted by Tuesday, June 1, 2021.
