PURPOSE-BUILT RESPITE FACILITY TAKING SHAPE

Jun 2, 2025 | Latest News

The establishment of a new purpose-built respite facility will soon provide vulnerable and elderly Mallacoota and district residents more opportunities to stay in their community and receive support from local healthcare service providers.
Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester has praised the work of Mallacoota District Health and Support Service (MDHSS) Chief Executive Officer Anne Mwagiru and her team as they continue to drive initiatives instrumental in providing ongoing health and wellbeing for the community.
“The team at MDHSS are very focused on helping locals live their best lives in the community they love,” Mr Chester said.
“The development of a new purpose-built respite facility will allow residents who are released from hospital after surgery, or other treatment, to return to their hometown and be supported in a home-like environment, which reduces the chances of falls, which would be a setback in their recovery.
“Well done to the staff and everyone involved in developing this project, which will help local families for years to come.”
